Southeast Artist Collaboration (SEACOL) was founded by Dr. Denise M. Dukes, PhD intially in 2007. However, the organization was formally incorporated in the State of Alabama and recognized as a Public Charity 501 (c) 3 in 2017 by the Internal Revenue Service. The Southeast Artist Collaboration envisions building a safe child-friendly society. We seek sustainable solutions to prevalent, long-term problems with children and youth; as well as, our adults through a community-based approach focusing on Arts Integration, Health & Wellness Education, Economic Development and helping our families adapt to a new era of Virtual World Inclusion utilizing technology proficiently in and out of the classrooms.
Through a variety of empowering measures, we improve our communities living conditions inorder to help our children realize their career dreams by focusing on the whole person.
OUR VISION:
SEACOL aspires to achieve a healthy and safe child-friendly society to ensure opportunities for health, education, play, nutrition, and survival.
OUR MISSION:
SEACOL is to be a force of advocacy for individuals, especially our youth to have equal opportunities to discover and develop their cognitive abilities through sequential, comprehensive and integrative artistic programs while simultaneously allowing them to understand their own cultural heritage and the cultural heritage of others.
What We Do:
Southeast Artist Collaboration (SEACOL) conducts educational classes, residencies and workshops in the areas of Creative Dance, Drama, Writing, Etiquette, Health & Wellness Education, Personal/Career Development Training and Economic Development. We work collaboratively with our Public & Private Educational School Systems, World Leaders, Churches, Corporate and Small Businesses, Arts Organizations; as well as, Local Communities throughout the Southeastern States to help ensure all people, especially our youth have the opportunity to be exposed and explore their creative abilities by collaborating with various sectors of the arts.
Arts Integration: In working with the schools, we specialize in integrating the arts with core curriculum subject areas of Math, Science, English and Social Studies; as well as, Physical Education and Nutrition to help our students increase their interest in learning, cognitive processing and life-long retention of information, as well as; appreciation and understanding of the arts.
Health Integration: In working within our community directly, we primarily cater to women’s needs through our Health and Wellness Center (Luxury Body Sculpting) that includes modalities and nutritional educational classes to create a healthier approach to integrated medicine such as, medical doctors, nutritionists, psycho therapists, holistic therapies (i.e., meditation and relaxation techniques, growing food and herbs, sound and light therapy, etc.) to help them learn how to destress and detox and implement what they have learned into their family’s daily lifestyle. We are looking forward to extending our services through building a Health and Wellness retreat to create a learning environment for the entire family in the areas of aeroponic gardening, how to create healthier meals and snacks at home; as well as, understanding the importance of reconnecting with nature in order to help calm the human spirit and mind.
Technology and Virtual Integration: We are here to serve; therefore, we don’t just wait for the public to come to us, in fact, 90% of our programs involve either mobile or online instruction in which we go directly into the public and private sectors of our community. We understand today's economy and the limitations of a person’s schedule (especially since the pandemic). When working with our schools, churches or community organizations, there is usually no charge to the participants for our workshops, however; if there is a fee, it is a nominal charge to cover basic expenses for any supplies that are needed for the students that grants or donations do not cover.
Economic Development Integration: SEACOL community economic development (CED) is a community-driven process where we identify and initiate solutions to economic, social and environmental issues to build healthy, economically viable communities. SEACOL (CED) contains principles and goals based on a grassroots approach to development where communities choose deliberate actions to influence the local economy and improve the quality of life for its residents.
Some examples of SEACOL (CED) principles include – • Mobilizing local resources (people, capital, institutions, organizations, etc.) to meet local needs. • Re-investment of profits into the local economy. Some of the goals of SEACOL (CED) are to – • Create employment. • Renew, stabilize and/or improve the community and local economy. • Develop local economic links. • Improve the physical environment of the community.
